Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

ContractFinder.ca is an independent Canadian software tool that helps businesses discover and evaluate public-sector contract opportunities. We are not a government body and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of Canada or any public-sector buyer. See our disclaimer for details.

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and the display name you provide. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. We do not store your password — Firebase manages credentials on our behalf.

Information you create

If you save a search, save a tender, or run an analysis while signed in, we store that record against your account so it is available the next time you sign in. This includes saved search criteria (keywords, province, category, buyer type, alert frequency), saved tender references, and your plan and credit balance.

Documents you upload

The bid price intelligence tool parses uploaded award documents and CSV files in your browser. Document text is processed locally on your device. Files are only transmitted to our storage if you are signed in and explicitly choose to save an analysis to your account.

Usage analytics

We may record which features are used and generic outcome labels so we can improve the product. Our analytics helper sends event names plus a short allowlist of non-personal values only. It never transmits tender text, uploaded document contents, quote amounts, subcontractor names, or any other content you enter.

3. What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not rent or trade your contact details to third parties.
• We do not use your uploaded pricing data to inform other users' analyses.
• We do not require personal information to browse the public pages of this site.

4. Service providers

We rely on third-party infrastructure providers to run the service. Google Firebase provides authentication, database and file storage. Our hosting provider serves the website. These providers process data on our instructions and may store data outside Canada, including in the United States. Where data is processed outside Canada it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.

5. Retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. Saved searches, saved tenders and saved analyses are retained until you delete them or close your account. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal information from our active systems, subject to any records we must retain to meet legal or accounting obligations.

6. Your rights under Canadian privacy law

Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) gives you the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, and to withdraw consent to our use of it. Residents of provinces with substantially similar legislation, including Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia, may have additional rights. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the timelines required by applicable law.

7. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and access to stored records is restricted by authentication rules so that a signed-in user can only reach their own records. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how we use your personal information will be communicated to account holders.
