About ContractFinder.ca

ContractFinder.ca is an independent Canadian tool that helps small and mid-sized businesses find public-sector contract opportunities and decide which ones are worth bidding on.

The problem we are working on

Canadian governments buy an enormous amount of work from private suppliers, and by design most of it is advertised publicly. In principle any qualified business can compete. In practice, the process filters heavily in favour of organisations that can afford to staff it.

Opportunities are scattered across federal, provincial and municipal channels, each with its own interface and registration. Notices are written in procurement language rather than plain English. A single tender package can run to a hundred pages, and you often cannot tell whether you are competitive until you have already spent days reading it. Pricing is the hardest part of all: without knowing what similar contracts have awarded for, a first-time bidder is guessing.

The result is that a contractor with a real shot at the work never bids, because the cost of finding out was too high. That is the gap this tool exists to close.

What the tool does

ContractFinder.ca sits on top of publicly available procurement data and adds the layer that portals do not: search and filtering built around how a supplier actually decides, structured tender details of dense notices, bid-fit scoring against your capabilities, historical award research, and pricing analysis that works backwards from a target bid to the subcontractor budget your margin can support.

For the specific channels covered and how each one publishes its opportunities, see tender sources. For a full index of our guides, start at resources.

Who it is for

This is built for the supplier side of Canadian public procurement: trades and construction firms, IT and cybersecurity providers, consultants, facility and janitorial services, staffing agencies, and professional services firms. It suits businesses bidding for the first time as much as established suppliers who want to stop missing opportunities they would have won.

How we operate

Say what the data actually supports

Scores, summaries and price ranges are presented as estimates derived from public records, because that is what they are. Where a figure is uncertain or a source is incomplete, we say so rather than rounding it into confidence.

The official tender is always the system of record

Every opportunity links back to its source. We are a research layer on top of public procurement data, never a replacement for reading the real documents before you bid.

No promises about winning

Nobody can guarantee a contract award. We help you spend proposal time on opportunities you can realistically win, and decline work that is not worth the effort.

Your pricing data stays yours

Uploaded documents are parsed in your browser. We do not use one supplier's cost structure to inform another's analysis.

What we are not

ContractFinder.ca is not a government website and has no affiliation with the Government of Canada, CanadaBuys, MERX, SAP Ariba, or any public-sector buyer. We cannot register you as a supplier, issue solicitation documents, answer formal questions about an open tender, or submit a bid on your behalf. Those steps happen in the official channel named in the tender.

We are also not a substitute for professional advice. Public contracts carry real legal and financial obligations, and our output is decision support, not a recommendation you should follow without your own review. Our disclaimer sets out the limits in full.

Tell us what would make this more useful

We build against what suppliers actually run into. If a source is missing or a tool does not fit how you bid, we want to hear about it.
